Jennifer Carpenter Bio

American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter is a December 7, 1979, native of the United States. She is most well-known for her roles in the roles of Debra Morgan and Rebecca Harris in Showtime's Dexter. She was chosen to play Erica Shepherd, a leading role in NBC's drama The Enemy Within. Carpenter was initially recognized for her performance in the role of Emily Rose in The Exorcism of Emily Rose. She was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance. She was also honored with a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. The actress was named "Breakout Performer" at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They eloped on the night of New Year's Eve in California and walked out for the first time as a married couple at the 66th Golden Globe Awards in January 2009. Hall and Carpenter released an announcement in December of 2010, stating that they had been separated "for some time". However they remain close acquaintances. Carpenter and Seth Avett, musician, were announced to be married and expecting their first baby on February 10, 2015. Carpenter was eight and half months pregnant when she shot the pilot episode of Limitless and had her son in May of 2015. Carpenter and Avett married in May 2016.
