Robin Gayle
Robin Gayle Wright was the daughter of
Gayle (Gaston) and was Director of the national office at Mary Kay and Freddie
Wright who was a pharmacist executive. She was raised in San Diego. At 14 years
old she started her career in modeling. She was a model in Paris as well as
Japan. After high school graduation, she was a professional actress. She was
part of the soap opera Santa Barbara (1984), in which she was nominated 3 more
times for Daytime Emmys. During the first season of the show she fell in love with
fellow cast member Dane Witherspoon, whom she got married in 1986. She also
appeared in The Princess Bride (1987) in the title role. After leaving the cast
of Santa Barbara, she got the starring role in Denial (1990) with Jason Patric.
She got to know Sean Penn in 1990 while she was in State of Grace (1990). They
had their daughter Dylan Frances with him and the son was named Hopper Jack.
Robin returned to Hollywood with Tara in one of the most important roles in her
career, following an absence. She was stunning and brilliant. Next, she was in
Toys (1992) in the film Toys (1992) with Robin Williams. She gave an amazing
performance. In 1994, Wright was in the blockbuster success Forrest Gump
(1994), with Tom Hanks. Wright received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award
in recognition of her performance as Jenny. She had a small role in The
Crossing Guard (1995) that starred Jack Nicholson. After being rejected for 14
roles, she was finally offered the title role played by MGM/UA's Moll Flanders
(1996). Pen Densham directed her and Stockard Channing acted. She then starred
alongside William Hurt in Erin Dignam’s Loved (1997).
