Paula Patton
Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles,
California, to Joyce (Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African
American, while her mother is caucasian and has German, English and Dutch
heritage. As a child in the area, her family lived next to the 20th Century Fox
lot. She was a huge film enthusiast since her early years. Her mother, who was
a teacher and her father as a lawyer were both avid film buffs. Paula claimed
that she tried to get away as an infant through "pretending" to
pretend to be someone else than. So it's not a surprise that she took part in
Hamilton Magnet Arts High School performances. Her most loved role was one of
Abigail in "The Crucible". She pursued her studies at the University
of Southern California, where she completed a summer course in film. It was
during this time that she was awarded a 3-month assignment to make
documentaries for PBS. Then, she was hired as a production assistant for
documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk show. Her career progressed to
producing documentary segments for Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery
Health Channel. Paula says she is passionate about what she's doing, but her
goals were the same. She took acting classes and then switched to becoming a
performer. She became a star quickly and was in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006)
as well as Deja Vu (2006) as the female character.
